Bélanger Sauvé is pleased to welcome to its Montreal office two new articling students who distinguished themselves during the Course aux stages 2022.
Valérie Couturier and Simon Granosik are the firm’s new recruits as of Monday, June 5, 2023.
Over the next six months, these future jurists will benefit from the expertise of the firm’s partners and lawyers, and will build on their internships to develop their skills and complete their legal training.
Simon Granosik: graduate of the Université de Sherbrooke and possessed of genuine intellectual curiosity
Simon Granosik is a young man who is trilingual (French, English and Polish), interested, quick-witted and intellectually curious. He holds a law degree from the Université de Sherbrooke.
Before embarking on his articles at the École du Barea, he completed legal internships with the engineering consulting firm SNC-Lavalin and with Aéroports de Montréal. In addition to his academic and professional achievements, Simon Granosik is also an accomplished pianist and actor. He is very enthusiastic about his internship with Bélanger Sauvé.
“I have a strong interest in labour law and litigation,” he says. “So Bélanger Sauvé was the perfect fit for me. What’s more, thanks to the firm’s articling program, which gives me the opportunity to work in several areas of expertise, I’ll be able to deepen my knowledge and diversify my interests. I can’t wait to see what the next few months hold in store for me.”
During the Course aux stages, Simon Granosik remembers “particularly enjoying” his interview with the Bélanger Sauvé lawyers, who he found to be “warm and welcoming “.
“My first impressions were quickly confirmed during my first days as a stagiaire! It’s rare to find a firm as prestigious as Bélanger Sauvé to show such a human side “, he added
Valérie Couturier: solid experience in public administration and extensive community involvement
After a career in entrepreneurship and municipal and federal politics, Valérie Couturier undertook a Bachelor of Law degree at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), graduating in 2022. Valérie Couturier also holds a certificate in municipal services management from the same university.
This future lawyer has over 10 years’ professional experience in public administration and notable community involvement.
In 2009, while launching her ecological boutique and specialized children’s hairdressing business, she also made the leap into municipal politics. She was elected as a municipal councillor for the Ville de L’Assomption. During her four-year term, she contributed to the development and implementation of the municipality’s family policy and the acquisition of an ecological park for residents. In 2015, she made the transition from municipal to federal politics, first as a campaign manager and then as an assistant to an MP in the House of Commons.
With a special interest in municipal and administrative law, articling with Bélanger Sauvé is an excellent opportunity for her to learn from experts in these particular fields of law.
“I fell in love with the firm from my first interactions with the team during the Course aux stages”, she confided. “I was looking for a stimulating work environment where I could develop professionally in a collegial atmosphere that would enable me to build bonds of trust and belonging with my peers, and that’s exactly what I found at Bélanger Sauvé.”
“From the moment we first arrived, I felt we were already part of a family,” she continued. “The members of the team are very generous with their time; they take our professional development seriously, and our assignments are very stimulating. I feel very fortunate to be able to pursue my professional development at Bélanger Sauvé.”
