Labour and Employment Law

Bélanger Sauvé launches the 13th edition of its labour law conference

Table of Contents

Every year for the past 13 years, Bélanger Sauvé’s labour lawyers organize a day of targeted information seminars, led by guests with a high level of expertise, aimed at broadening client knowledge on how the law and court decisions frame the workplace and its employment challenges and issues and informing them of best employment practices.

This annual conference is a popular educational opportunity for the firm’s public, parapublic and private sector clients. Also, members of two professional orders, the Québec Bar and the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés earn credits for attending the seminars on offer.

Varied and complete program

The 2023 edition offers four seminars led by Bélanger Sauvé lawyers and guest experts.

Frédéric Poirier and Stéphanie Lalande, both partners at the firm, will open the conference by co-hosting a seminar on employer intervention in the private lives of their employees.

This will be followed by Luc Chabot, President and CEO at Relais Expert-Conseil, sharing his expertise on reconciling recruitment, training and work organization with current social changes.

The thirds seminar, moderated by Yann-Philippe St-Laurent, Director, Employment and Compensation at Willis Towers Watson (WTW) will focus establishing salaries in inflationary times.

Two of te firm’s lawyers, Étienne Rivet-Dumontet and Marianne Mansour will close the conference with an overview of current labour law issues that have left their mark on the collective imagination, such as the Just for Laughs case and modernization of Quebec’s occupational health and safety legislation. They will also summarize the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on the workplace.
