Pierre-André Côté is Professor Emeritus at the Université de Montréal and holds an honorary Doctor of Law from the Université de Sherbrooke. From 1970 to 2005, he taught and conducted research at the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Law.
He started his career teaching and publishing in the area of administrative law, then shifted to teaching and research in the related area of statutory interpretation and application. He is particularly known for authoring and later co-authoring the 1982 work Interprétation des lois, which has been translated into English (The Interpretation of Legislation in Canada) and is now in its fifth edition.
